Welcome to the official website of the Ministry of Women Affairs Abia state
The national commission for women was established by decree No. 30 of 7th December, 1989. This version was replicated in all the states of the federation, as state commission for women. This institutional mechanism was established to tackle problems related to women, children, elderly and the vulnerable groups..

The mandate of the ministry is to formulate policies and implement programs that will uplift the living standard of women, children, elderly, people with disabilities (PWDS), and strengthen family ties. This will serve as a medium of improving their social-economic status thereby allowing them to contribute favorably to the government of the society and the nation at large.
